EeZeeTee Granted ₦20 Million Bail Over Alleged Dollar Deal
Ezekiel Onyedikachi, popularly known as EeZeeTee and known in the music industry for managing gospel singer Mercy Chinwo, has been granted bail in a case involving an alleged foreign exchange deal gone wrong.
A Federal High Court judge in Lagos, Justice Chukwujekwu Aneke, ruled on Friday that EeZeeTee could be released on bail under the condition that he provides one surety. The surety must live in Lagos and own property equal in value to the ₦20 million bail set by the court.
This development comes after the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) brought forward accusations tied to a forex transaction worth $255,000. Initially, the EFCC filed 14 charges, which were later trimmed down to seven.
According to the prosecution, the case involves a 2023 transaction where EeZeeTee allegedly handled a $52,895 currency exchange without clearance from the Central Bank. The EFCC claims this action goes against specific sections of Nigerian financial regulations.
While the producer maintains his innocence and has pleaded not guilty to all the charges, the court has given him 72 hours to meet his bail terms. Until then, he remains under the care of his legal representative, Ojukwu Chikaosolu.
The trial is scheduled to continue on June 20, 2025.
