According to reports, at least 78 Nigerians have been killed and 12 others have been abducted in violent attacks across the country since President Bola Tinubu took office a week ago.

According to Blinkscoop News, the Nigeria Security Tracker, a project of the Council on Foreign Relations, revealed this in data released on Monday.

Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress (APC) flagbearer in the 2023 elections, was sworn in as President on May 29 at Eagle Square in Abuja.

The security incidents occurred in Rivers, Zamfara, Kaduna, Ogun, Sokoto, and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), according to a report by Nigeria Security Tracker.

According to the report, on May 29, gunmen killed four people and beheaded two others in Rivers, while on May 30, bandits killed a vigilante leader and 24 others in Zamfara state.

On the same day, bandits killed a man and kidnapped his wife and four children in Kaduna, and two APC women leaders were kidnapped after attending the Kaduna governor’s inauguration.

On May 30, suspected cultists killed six people in Rivers communities, and on May 31, gunmen in camouflage attacked an Ogun farm, killing three and kidnapping two.
On Sunday, June 4, 2023, gunmen kidnapped four people in Abuja, and on the same day, bandits killed 37 people in Sokoto for refusing to pay the levy.
