A Nigerian-Born Business Consultant Has Been Appointed As a Councillor In Canada.

Khadijah Haliru, a Nigerian living in Canada, ran for office and won on Tuesday to become the town councilor for Ingersoll in Oxford County, Ontario, Canada. On her verified Twitter page on Wednesday, Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Chairperson of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), announced this.

While running for office on 104.7 Heart FM in July, Haliru pledged that if elected to the Ingersoll Town Council this autumn, she will promote downtown businesses, involve kids, and combat homelessness.

“I feel like we simply truly have to open our hearts and minds to a fresh way of thinking so that we can bring some change,” the Ahmadu Bello University graduate and business consultant said.

“I’m not arguing that the existing council is right or wrong, but it’s fair to have another viewpoint.

“Due to our extremely advantageous location, we have the chance to become a major tourist destination. We need to draw more attention to our businesses because our downtown is struggling, and I have some suggestions for how to do that.
