Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer, has urged voters in Ejisu to refrain from supporting an independent candidate in the upcoming by-elections.

The Vice President cautioned constituents against casting their ballots for Kwabena Owusu Aduomi, an independent candidate, stating that doing so would essentially benefit the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Speaking at a final campaign rally before the Ejisu by-election on April 30th, Bawumia stressed the importance of party loyalty and unity, urging voters to support the NPP candidate.

Highlighting the slim margin in parliament, with the NPP holding 138 seats against the NDC’s 137, Bawumia emphasized the significance of every vote in securing a stronger mandate for the ruling party.

He underscored the NPP’s track record of improving the lives of the people in Ejisu compared to the NDC’s tenure, urging constituents to rally behind Lawyer Kwabena Boateng to continue the late John Kumah’s work.

Meanwhile, the Electoral Commission’s Notice of Poll for the by-election listed six candidates, including three independents and three representing political parties. The independents are former NPP Member of Parliament Kwabena Owusu Aduomi, Gabriel Agyemang Joseph, and Attakorah Joseph, while the party candidates are Esther Osei of the CPP, Kwabena Boateng of the NPP, and Beatrice Boakye of the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG).

As the election date approaches, voters have a crucial decision to make, with their choice expected to have significant implications for the political landscape in Ejisu.
