According to the World Health Organization’s head, a humanitarian worker was kidnapped from his car in eastern Mali.
Mahamadou Diawara is a doctor who works for the World Health Organization, and WHO boss Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said in a tweet that he “deplored” the actions of the “unidentified assailants” who abducted Mr. Diawara in the Ménaka district.
“We are collaborating with local authorities to investigate the kidnapping and ensure our colleague’s safe return to his family,” Mr. Tedros said.
