Dr. Richard Amoako Baah, a prominent figure within the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), has voiced strong criticism of the current government, describing it as chaotic and lacking accountability.

In a recent interview on Accra-based Onua FM, Dr. Baah expressed his views candidly, stating that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is the least effective leader Ghana has witnessed since the return to multi-party democracy in 1992.

Dr. Baah highlighted the government’s shortcomings in upholding democratic values, asserting that Akufo-Addo’s administration has performed poorly in this regard. He cited instances of corruption, impunity, and disregard for the rule of law, emphasizing the lack of consequences for those who engage in illegal activities such as illegal mining (galamsey) and flouting the Auditor-General’s reports.

He specifically pointed to the controversial case of former Auditor-General, Daniel Domelevo, as evidence of the government’s tendency to sideline individuals who do not align with the president’s interests or those of his associates.

According to Dr. Baah, President Akufo-Addo operates with impunity, exerting his will without being held accountable for his actions. He lamented the absence of consequences for wrongdoing under the current administration.

As a seasoned political scientist, Dr. Amoako Baah has consistently raised concerns about the Akufo-Addo-led government, urging the president to take decisive action on pressing national issues. His outspoken criticism reflects a broader sentiment of dissatisfaction among certain segments of the population regarding the government’s performance and adherence to democratic principles.
