Former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello was notably absent from court for his arraignment on a 19-count charge of alleged money laundering amounting to N84 billion.

Security at the Federal High Court in Abuja was tight, with operatives from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and officers from the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) present.

At the start of proceedings, Bello’s absence was duly noted before Justice Emeka Nwite of the Federal High Court, Abuja.

Justice Nwite had previously adjourned on April 18th for a ruling on substituted service of the charge on the former governor, whom the EFCC accuses of evading service.
