Australia Partners with Amazon for Top-Secret Military Cloud
Australia has announced a significant deal with US tech giant Amazon, unveiling a US$1.3 billion project to store top-secret military intelligence on a custom cloud server.
According to the Australian government, Amazon Web Services will develop a “top secret” cloud infrastructure tailored for the country’s military and intelligence agencies. This initiative aims to enhance interoperability and strengthen collaboration with the United States, one of Australia’s longstanding military allies.
Rachel Noble, head of Australian intelligence, highlighted that the cloud will also support the country’s “Redspice” intelligence program, designed to mitigate the rising threat of cyber attacks.
As part of the agreement, Amazon plans to establish three data centers across Australia.
