Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, has expressed confidence that the days of terror led by notorious bandit leader Bello Turji are numbered. Speaking on Channels Television, Lawal assured that with ongoing efforts and collaboration between the state, the Federal Government, and security agencies, Turji’s reign of terror would soon come to an end.

“It’s only a matter of time,” the governor stated. “With the strategies we have in place, and the support from security forces, I believe Turji will be eliminated very, very soon.”

This statement follows recent military success in the region, which saw the elimination of another wanted bandit leader, Halilu Sububu, who had terrorized Zamfara, Sokoto, and parts of the North-West. Sububu and over 30 other bandits were killed in a significant operation last week.

While Governor Lawal does not believe Turji’s death will completely eradicate banditry in Zamfara, he is optimistic it will lead to a substantial reduction in criminal activities. He emphasized the importance of maintaining military pressure, adding, “If we can keep up this momentum over the next two weeks to a month, the situation will change dramatically.”
