King Charles III has given the go-ahead for a bank holiday in the entire United Kingdom on the day of his mother Queen Elizabeth II’s death.

During a ceremony in London formally announcing his coronation, the new king affirmed the directive.

The official funeral for the Queen will take place on September 19th.

The Queen, who had been the queen of Britain for the longest time, passed away peacefully on Thursday afternoon at her Balmoral residence in Scotland.

The state will be held in Westminster Abbey, a revered building that also serves as the venue for the coronation of British kings and queens and the 1947 wedding of Queen Elizabeth II to Prince Philip.

Although the Queen’s mother’s funeral was held there in 2002, there hasn’t been a royal funeral service in the Abbey since the 18th century.

The coronation of the Queen in 1953 took place at Westminster Abbey, a revered royal church. In 1947, the Queen also wed Prince Philip there.

To commemorate the Queen’s life and service, heads of state from around the world will be invited to join members of the Royal Family.

Former prime ministers and prominent UK politicians are also anticipated to attend the event, which will be televised.

For the day of the state burial, it is anticipated that some parts of daily life will be postponed, with some businesses and organizations choosing to suspend or halt their operations.

On that day, the Royal Mail will halt its postal services, and some stores, including Harrods, have already indicated they’ll be closing.

One of many ways that life in the UK is currently being momentarily suspended in the wake of the Queen’s passing is the approaching bank holiday.

The government has declared a period of national mourning, which will continue through the day of the state burial.

Even though it is not required, several events that were scheduled to take place right following the Queen’s passing have already been canceled or delayed for a few days.

All Premier League, English Football League, Scottish, or Northern Ireland football games, as well as all Women’s Super League, Women’s Championship, and Women’s FA Cup contests, have been postponed till Tuesday.

Numerous golf, boxing, and horse racing events have also been postponed.

Following the Queen’s passing, large-scale strike actions scheduled for next week were immediately canceled, and the Trades Union Congress announced it would postpone its annual convention in Brighton this weekend out of respect.

Government advice advises that event planners may want to change timings to prevent conflicts with the service or processions on the day of the state burial.
