The BRICS coalition, comprising key emerging economies, has emphasized the need for greater representation of the Global South in international affairs.

In a joint statement released during their summit in Kazan, Russia, BRICS leaders highlighted the importance of including countries with emerging economies, along with developing and least developed nations, particularly from Africa, Latin America, and the Caribbean, in global decision-making processes.

Additionally, the BRICS group is committed to enhancing collaboration to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. They voiced strong opposition to “unilateral” climate actions that have been enforced upon their nations.

The statement read, “We will enhance cooperation on various solutions and technologies aimed at lowering and capturing greenhouse gas emissions,” while firmly denouncing the “unilateral measures” taken under the guise of combating climate change.
