A tropical cyclone killed at least 14 people, seven in Madagascar and seven in Mozambique.

According to the most recent UN situation report, the number of people affected by Cyclone Freddy has risen to 383,000, including 226,000 in Madagascar and more than 163,300 in Mozambique.

“Even though the intensity of Cyclone Freddy was not as much as we expected, hundreds of thousands of people are in need of humanitarian assistance. “Recovery will take months,” World Food Programme representative in Madagascar Pasqualina Di Sirio told the BBC.

Flooding is unlikely in southern Zimbabwe because Cyclone Freddy did not move as far inland as previously predicted.
