Dapo Oyebanjo, popularly known as D’banj, has been officially cleared of rape and N-Power fraud allegations after facing accusations since June 2020. The Nigeria Police Force and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) conducted thorough investigations, leading to the vindication of the singer. According to affidavits presented to the District Court of Abuja by Abuja-based lawyer Toheeb Lawal, marked as exhibits A and B, there was no medical evidence or corroborative facts to substantiate the rape allegations.

The investigation reports highlighted that no medical report was available to confirm the alleged rape, and the evidence did not support the accusations of indecent assault, rape, and intimidation. The complainant, represented by Ojoge, Omileye & Partners, voluntarily withdrew the petition, leading to the discontinuation of the investigation.

The music industry faced turmoil when Seyitan Babatayo accused D’banj of rape, alleging an incident at the Glee Hotel in Victoria Island, Lagos, in 2018. The singer, who faced public scrutiny and a damaged reputation, vehemently denied the allegations and took legal action against Babatayo, seeking ₦100 million in compensation.

In a public statement addressing the allegations, D’banj expressed the impact on his marriage, family, and those who believed in him. He described the accusations as false and ludicrous, asserting his innocence. The legal proceedings unfolded as the Nigerian Police investigated the criminal aspect of the case.

Now, with the official clearance from both the Nigeria Police Force and the ICPC, D’banj is free from all allegations related to the matter.
