Doja Cat is over pop.
As she prepares to release her next album, the Grammy winner provided fans with an update on her musical direction. Doja announced on Twitter that she is done making pop music and only wants to rap.
“No more pop,” she tweeted before a fan asked if she felt compelled to change genres.
“Pop no longer excites me.” “I’m not going to make it,” she said.
“At least she knows she’s not a rapper,” another fan joked, prompting Doja to respond, “I’m definitely a rapper.”

She also addressed criticism of her rap abilities, vowing to silence her detractors with new music. “I also agree with everyone who said my rap verses are mostly mid and corny.” “I know they are,” Doja said. “I wasn’t trying to prove anything; I just enjoy making music, but I’m sick of hearing people say I can’t, so I will.”
Another fan encouraged her to “talk your shit in the rap sphere,” to which she responded, “I do that on the album.”

She revealed that she has recorded ten tracks for her next project, which will be “rap only,” and shared some of the titles, which include “Wet Vagina,” “Balut,” and “Agora Hills.”
Doja previously revealed the title of her new album, Hellmouth, which she promises will be “more masculine” than 2021’s Planet Her.
“I know I’ve done a lot of pink and soft things, a lot of pop and glittery sounds,” she told Variety, “but I’m going in a more masculine direction for this next era.”
