This week, the OVO rapper became the first artist to surpass 75 billion Spotify streams across all credits.

In an Instagram Story, he celebrated his most recent accomplishment while also proposing a new payment structure in which Spotify pays artists “bonuses” based on their performance, which he believes will inspire tomorrow’s stars.

“We should get bonuses like athletes to motivate future artists to be consistent and competitive,” Drake said before instructing Spotify to hand over the money. “So feel free to send me a Lebron sized cheque. “I’ve got plenty of dinner plates,” he joked.

Drake is still the undisputed king of Spotify. He finished 2022 as the most-streamed artist in the United States. It was estimated that he would earn $52.5 million in royalties from his 21.5 billion streams in 2021.

He has no intention of slowing down. He hinted that he might release another album this year after releasing two projects last year.

“I hope I can elicit more emotions for you, maybe this year,” he said during one of his two Apollo Theater performances. “Who knows, I might get bored and make another one!”
