The All Progressives Congress assembled a team of highly qualified and experienced lawyers to represent it at the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal on Tuesday in Abuja.

According to Ahmad El-Marzuq, APC National Legal Adviser, the team was made up of legal luminaries with extensive experience in election petitions, constitutional law, and litigation.

He stated that the legal team, which included 13 Senior Advocates of Nigeria, was led by renowned lawyer Prince Lateef Fagbemi.

El-Marzuq stated that Fagbemi had successfully handled a number of high-profile election matters as well as other landmark cases.

He expressed confidence that the legal team has the necessary expertise and experience to ensure the APC’s success in the Presidential Election Petition matters.

The APC National Legal Adviser urged party members to join the team in defending the people’s will and mandate in the February 25 presidential election.


He also urged all parties involved to conduct themselves professionally and with respect for the rule of law throughout the legal process.

The legal team includes Lateef Fagbemi (Lead Counsel); Ahmad El-Marzuq (Life Bencher); Sam Ologunorisa; Rotimi Oguneso; Olabisi Syebo; Gbotega Oyewole; Muritala Abdulrasheed; Aliyu Saiki; Tajudeen Oladoja; Pius Akubo; Oluseye Opasanya; Suraju Saida and Kazeem Adeniyi.

Both Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party presidential candidate, and Mr. Peter Obi, the Labour Party candidate, who were defeated at the polls, have filed legal challenges against the election results, alleging electoral fraud.

Sen. Bola Tinubu, the APC presidential candidate, was declared the winner of the election by the Independent National Electoral Commission with 8, 794,726 votes.

According to INEC, Tinubu’s closest rival, Abubakar, received 6, 984, 520 votes, while Obi received 6, 101, 533 votes.
