The Ghana Music Awards is gearing up to reveal its sponsor for the 25th anniversary on Thursday, March 28.

The event will mark the launch of the 25th anniversary celebrations at the Accra International Conference Centre.

The nomination process kicked off on January 29 this year, inviting submissions from the industry and stakeholders for works released between January 1, 2023, and December 31, 2023.

The 25th Anniversary Launch

The Ghana Music Awards Festival has evolved into the most significant event in the Ghanaian entertainment scene since its inception in 2000. Serving as the cornerstone of the music industry, its goal is simple: to acknowledge and reward outstanding achievements in music. The scheme comprises an Academy consisting of DJs, presenters, producers, and more, alongside a board of industry experts and the general public. For 24 years, the scheme has celebrated the music, people, and culture of Ghana.

The Nominees Unveil

The unveiling of the 25th-anniversary nominees is eagerly anticipated by music enthusiasts and industry insiders alike. Following the submission deadline, the board, research team, and the GMA secretariat have been diligently reviewing works from 2023. This meticulous process involves listening, reviews, and extensive analysis of data, lyrics, and production quality. It’s a moment filled with excitement and anticipation as artists and fans eagerly await to see who makes the cut.

The Twist

In a departure from previous years, where categories were unveiled throughout the day, the 25th anniversary takes a different approach: all categories will be revealed at the event. Who will be nominated in which category? Which artists will make history? These questions will be answered on Thursday, March 28th.

For several years, Vodafone Ghana has been the title sponsor of the Ghana Music Awards, leading to its branding as the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA). However, discussions have arisen following the recent announcement of a name change from Vodafone to Telecel.

Industry players are now asking: how will this name change impact the Ghana Music Awards? Is there a new title sponsor? What will the event be called now? The sponsor announcement is scheduled for Thursday, March 28th.

The event promises thrilling performances from some of Ghana’s finest musicians. Don’t miss the live broadcast on leading TV station, TV3, at 8 pm, and follow the action on social media handles including Ghana Music Awards on Facebook and CharterhouseLive on YouTube. Additionally, you can catch the event online via various social media handles, www.ghanamusicawards.com, and blog portals.
