Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State expressed his gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for fostering a conducive environment for the peaceful conduct of Saturday’s governorship primary in the state.

In his acceptance speech following his emergence as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the November 16 governorship election, Aiyedatiwa thanked President Tinubu and also appreciated the national and state working committees of the party for ensuring that the “best candidate emerged.”

Usman Ododo, the Chairman of the Governorship Primary Election Committee for Ondo State and Governor of Kogi, declared Aiyedatiwa as the winner of Saturday’s primary. Aiyedatiwa secured 48,569 votes, defeating his closest rival, Mayowa Akinfolarin, who garnered 15,343 out of 95,178 valid votes.

Aiyedatiwa extended his appreciation to all other contestants for their sportsmanship and called on them to join forces with him to secure victory for the party in the November election.

Acknowledging the inherent disagreements that accompany democracy, he emphasized the importance of unity, stating, “This is not the time to hold grudges against one another, but for all of us to come together to ensure our continued leadership.”
