St Mary Catholic Church has shared photos of its Assistant Parish Priest of, Rev Fr Martin Delali Attitson joining Muslims at Asamankese to perform Eid-Fitr prayers.

The inter-religious tolerance demonstration took place on Saturday, April 22, 2023.
Some parishioners accompanied the priest as he and Muslim leaders and other faithful began their end-of-Ramadan prayers together.

Some photos posted to the St Mary Catholic Church’s Facebook page show Father Attitson hugging and greeting members of the local Muslim community.

“Assistant Parish Priest Joins Muslims In Asamankese To Celebrate Eid-Ul-Fitr’s End”

“To mark the end of Ramadan, Rev Fr Martin Delali Attitson, the assistant parish priest, and some parishioners joined the Muslim community in Asamankese,” the church captioned the lovely photos.

Many Ghanaians have praised the church and the Muslim community for demonstrating interfaith tolerance, demonstrating to the youth that peace, tolerance, and coexistence are the way to go.

Other countries have admired Ghana’s religious tolerance between the two dominant religious groups, Christians and Muslims, over the years. This laudable accomplishment can be attributed in part to the roles played by leaders of the two faiths in constantly whipping their followers into line and educating them on why peaceful coexistence must not be compromised.

In some cases, when a public figure makes an inflammatory comment that threatens the peace between the two religious groups, the leaders of the two groups come out strongly condemning the statement and requiring the person who made it to publicly apologize and withdraw it.
