The hip-hop scene has been rocked by the death of Takeoff.
In Houston, Texas, on Tuesday, one-third of the Migos was shot and killed outside a bowling alley. Takeoff and Quavo were reportedly playing dice there when an incident started and someone started firing. The rapper, 28, was declared deceased at the scene.
Following the tragedy, Takeoff’s friends and Gucci Mane joined the outpouring of grief on social media.
“This made my heart ache” Gucci, who most recently worked with Takeoff and Quavo on their album Only Built for Infinity Links, said, “Rest In Peace @yrntakeoff.
Ciara, Takeoff’s fellow ATLien, was devastated by the news as well. “To hear about Take Off hurts my heart. It’s just not logical. Gone too soon,” she wrote on Twitter.

When Desiigner went live on Instagram to declare that he was done with rap, he was visibly upset and in tears. “I’m through. In the wrenching footage, he can be heard saying, “I can’t live like this any longer.

While making a comment about the disturbing video of the shooting that was posted on social media, Keke Palmer expressed her sympathy. “This is awful. Between the sorrow of the death and the horror that a video of it was posted online, she writes. “I am truly sorry to his entire family and everyone he impacted. It is all so awful. incredibly awful
Teyana Taylor and Jacquees Taylor both expressed skepticism. Taylor pleaded, “Please tell me this is just a horrible dream; I don’t want to believe this little bro,”
Ja Rule demanded that the violence stop. This stuff has to STOP, Rip Takeoff. Hip hop is being HUNTED, he continued, before offering his love to his friends and family.
Tyler, the Creator reposted a picture of Takeoff with the comment “Safe travels” on his Instagram Story, while Rick Ross lamented the passing of a “young legend.”
Chance the Rapper thought back on his bond with Takeoff as he was still in shock after the tragedy. Without a doubt, I’m heartbroken and perplexed this morning, he wrote. But I must admit that Take is a special type of friend who always acknowledges you, checks on your well-being, and reminds you to put God first. Man, I wish I had more opportunities to encounter you on this planet.
Bow Wow thought back on his recent interactions with Takeoff. “Nawfisde Patna went way too soon… we had just been to a show with Kevin Hart and magic. This beyond unreal” he said
