How far away from your bed should your phone be?

Sleeping next to your phone ensures that you never miss a call, text, or email. However, because of the danger it poses, you may want to keep it away.
If you keep your phone near your head, under the pillow, or on the nightstand, you should find another location for it during the night.

The closer your phone is to you at night, the worse it is for your health.

You might be wondering how far it should go.

 

To limit radiofrequency energy exposure, keep your phone at least three feet away from your bed.

Turn on airplane mode to prevent your phone from sending or receiving calls or text messages if you need to use it as an alarm.

Carry your phone in a purse or bag rather than your pocket during the day. This protects you from being exposed to more radiation.

Cell phones emit radiofrequency energy, which is a form of radiation when they communicate with network towers. Although the radiation is supposedly harmless, having a phone next to your head on a regular basis may cause headaches and difficulty sleeping. When the phone is next to your head, the exposure is far greater than when it is a few feet away. Even if it’s just sitting there, not in use but connected to a network, it emits a small amount of radiation.

 

It is possible to roll on top of your phone while sleeping if you sleep with it. The device does not receive adequate airflow and rapidly heats up, potentially damaging the battery. Putting your phone under your pillow at night could result in a fire.

 

Cell phones emit blue light, fooling your brain into thinking it’s daylight. Melatonin, a hormone that regulates sleep cycles, is released by the brain as you prepare for bed. Blue light disrupts these levels and disrupts your sleeping pattern. This can result in headaches, blurred vision, and sleepless nights.
