Renowned Nollywood actor, Zack Orji, recently shared his journey through a significant health challenge. During an interview on Channels Television, Orji recounted the harrowing experience that led to him undergoing two brain surgeries in Nigeria.
He revealed that he collapsed in the bathroom, a moment that could have turned fatal if not for timely intervention. Orji emphasized the role of divine grace in his survival, as he remained unconscious for nearly five and a half hours before help arrived.
Orji expressed gratitude to his friend Bala Ahmed, who promptly responded to the distress call from his home. Colleagues, including Benedict Johnson and Labista, rushed to assist, carrying him from the second floor to the ground floor before taking him to the National Hospital in Abuja.
With his wife flying in from Lagos upon hearing the news, Orji underwent his first surgery on January 1st, performed by neurosurgeon Dr. Biodun Ogungbo. However, subsequent scans revealed a residual blood clot, necessitating a second surgery by the same doctor.
Throughout his ordeal, Orji received overwhelming support from various quarters, including notable figures such as the President of Nigeria, the First Lady, the Vice President’s wife, the President’s son, and several ministers. Messages of concern and offers of assistance poured in from around the world, reflecting the widespread solidarity with Orji during his challenging time.
