Wale Akinterinwa, an All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship aspirant in Ondo State, has announced his intention to comply with the invitation from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Earlier reports had suggested that the former Commissioner for Finance was in EFCC custody. However, Akinterinwa refuted these claims, stating that they were unfounded.

“It came as a surprise to me as well. I am not in EFCC custody, and I believe these stories have been fabricated by those who perceive me as a threat. It’s absurd to claim that I’ve been in EFCC custody for the past 5 or 6 days. In reality, I’ve been in Akure preparing for the election that was scheduled but did not take place last Saturday. As we speak, I am at home,” he clarified.

“I was taken aback to see headlines today stating that I am in EFCC custody. Some individuals are intimidated by my reputation and will stop at nothing to tarnish it. But with God’s grace, they will not succeed,” he added.

Providing a fresh update via his X account on Thursday, Akinterinwa reiterated his commitment to honor the EFCC’s invitation.

“Today, I will be attending the EFCC’s invitation to provide further clarification on certain matters. I trust the anti-graft agency to conduct a thorough investigation and ensure justice is served,” he stated.
