According to electoral commission results, Atiku Abubakar defeated Nigeria’s ruling APC party’s candidate Bola Tinubu in the northwestern state of Kebbi.
Mr Tinubu received 248,088 votes, while the PDP presidential candidate received 285,175 votes.
Peter Obi of the Labour Party received 10,682 votes.
To win in the first round, a candidate must receive 25% of the votes cast in at least 25 of the 36 states, as well as the most votes cast nationwide.
