Yemi Solade Explains Why He Stopped Attending Church Over a Decade Ago

Veteran Nollywood actor Yemi Solade has opened up about why he hasn’t been a regular face in church for more than ten years.

Speaking on the Honest Bunch Podcast, Solade revealed that his decision dates back to 2013, after an experience that left him questioning the way church life was structured.

According to him, a pastor once instructed him to reject acting jobs that fell on Sundays. The request, he said, clashed with his career and made him reconsider the balance between faith and personal responsibilities.

“I was told not to take calls from producers on Sundays, and that didn’t sit well with me,” Solade recalled. “That was the moment I decided to step back.”

Since then, the actor says he has found peace and stability without being tied to weekly church commitments. Contrary to the belief that life spirals without constant church attendance, Solade insists his life has remained productive, with more time for his family and career.

He also criticized the endless cycle of church committees and obligations, which he felt pulled him away from his profession.

“If you see me in a church now, it’s probably because we’re filming,” he said. “The idea that life will crumble if you don’t go to church hasn’t applied to me. I have peace, I’m doing well, and I no longer deal with constant interruptions.”

For Solade, stepping away from traditional church activities was less about abandoning faith and more about reclaiming balance in his personal and professional life.
