Jason Momoa knows exactly what he wants to teach his children. The 43-year-old actor covers the latest issue of Men’s Health and discusses the most important lesson he teaches his and ex-Lisa Bonet’s children, Nakoa-Wolf, 14, and Lola Iolani, 15.

“There’s nothing worth doing if it’s not going to be difficult and a struggle.” It is acceptable to fall. “You fall, you get back up, and you do it all over again,” Momoa says of what he tells his children. “They want to be perfect and are afraid; they believe that falling is bad. ‘No, man, falling is great,’ I say. Falling is great because if you keep doing it, you’ll succeed.'”

Climbing is something that gives the actor a “massive bond” with his children, so much so that he has them send him videos of themselves doing it while he’s away working.

“I’m watching my heart as it climbs the wall.” “They’re kids, but they’re strong and confident, and they express themselves through movement,” he says. “Sometimes you have to be dynamic, sometimes you have to be static and smooth, and sometimes you just get to explore.” You can feel the moment when they succeed.”

Momoa, who divorced Bonet in January 2022 after 16 years together, is also passionate about the ban on single-use plastics and his upcoming roles in Chief of War and Fast X. Momoa’s long-term goals include the former initiative and others similar to it.

“It’s really cool to be up here as an actor,” he says, “but this isn’t what I want to do for a living.” “It’s only a fleeting moment.” I want to return to making art, painting, writing, raising a family, and then effecting significant environmental change. I’ll make movies just to entertain people.”

Because his job frequently takes him away from his family, Momoa makes certain that whatever he does with his time is productive.

“I won’t be able to see my children for a long time.” I have to share some information with them. I’m doing everything I want to do, everything I’m meant to do. And you have to do it,” he says. “I want my children to know and to do that.”

“When they were young, I worked for a long time doing things I didn’t want to do just to put food on the table.” And now what? You should only work with people who you want to work with. “You should make art with the people you want to make art with,” Momoa adds. “No matter what situation you’re in, you have to find your way.”
