The Bacardi partners have been sued by the hip-hop mogul’s company SC Liquor. He is reportedly interested in knowing just how much money his cognac line is generating.

Since 2011, JAY-Z has shared ownership of D’Usse with a 50/50 stake. JAY-Z wants financial transparency, so it seems like the partnership—officially known as D’Usse LLC—has struck a difficult spot.

JAY-Z is also requesting all books and documents, the whereabouts of all warehouses housing D’Usse barrels, bottles, and accessories, as well as all details regarding Bacardi’s actual inventory and its inventory method.

Although it’s unclear what brought about the lawsuit, there does seem to be some mistrust between the two sides. SC Liquor claims in the documents that it must “watch the conduct of [Bacardi’s] business to defend SC’s rights as” a partner in the firm.

JAY-Z frequently acknowledges D’Usse in his popular songs, such as Beyoncé’s “Part II (On the Run)” and “Drunk in Love” He also made a renowned D’Usse drink out of one of his Grammys.

In his lawsuit against the perfume manufacturer Parlux, Hov won in court back in August. According to a judge, JAY-Z is owed $6.78 million in outstanding royalties for his scent Gold Jay Z by the perfume manufacturer. In 2016, Parlux sued the rapper for $68 million, but it was dismissed.
