Joe Budden has apologized for his “careless” remarks about Megan Thee Stallion.
During the ongoing Tory Lanez shooting trial, the podcast host apologized to the “Savage” rapper, claiming she’d done “horrible things to some really great people.”Budden said he thought about his comments after receiving phone calls from “women I love, appreciate, and admire.”
“I apologize for the careless way I joked about her mental health. “That didn’t sit well with my soul and spirit,” he told his audience. “But that’s not funny because, whether you believe her or not, can you afford to be wrong? “No, it does not.”
“I would not feel right if that girl went home and did something to herself,” he continued. Then I’d just be a part of the crowd. And there appears to be a Megan hate train raging across social media.”
Budden issued an apology after receiving backlash for questioning Meg’s character despite not knowing her personally.
“To be clear, I am not familiar with her as a person. “She has the potential to be incredible,” he said in an earlier episode of “The Joe Budden Podcast.” “I’m biased because I’ve seen this woman do horrible things to some really great people with whom I have long-standing relationships in this industry. You can’t just treat my friend, people I f**k with, and people I’ve seen in this 15-year game in one way.”
Megan testified in the trial last week about how difficult it has been to deal with all of the hateful comments from Tory’s supporters.
“Because I was shot, I’ve been transformed into a villain, and he’s the victim. “This has ruined my entire life,” she explained. “If he’d known I’d have to go through this, I wish he’d just killed me.”
Tory’s felony assault trial, in which he has pleaded not guilty, is on its eighth day. Prosecutors attempted to charge Tory with witness tampering on Monday, based on an alleged $1 million bribe he made to Megan and her former best friend Kelsey Harris, but the motion was denied by a judge.
