Prior to Lionel Messi’s prospective return to the Catalan giants at age 35, Barcelona president Juan Laporta appeared to have reconciled their issues. Following Messi’s departure from Camp Nou last summer, Laporta and the Argentine appeared to have broken up. However, Barcelona is desperate to lure Messi back to the team where he spent 21 years once PSG’s contract with Messi expires.

Following news that Lionel Messi and club president Juan Laporta had reconciled, the Argentine’s prospective return to Barcelona has received a big boost. A rift developed between Messi, 35, and the president of Barcelona after he abruptly left Camp Nou in 2021 due to conflicts with the Barcelona board and a financial crisis.

Barca Universal reports that Messi and Laporta have put the metaphorical ‘hatchet’ down and made amends in advance of a probable reunion next summer.

Two years after leaving the Catalan giants to join Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain, Argentina’s captain Lionel Messi is eager to return to Barcelona.

Messi’s current PSG deal is slated to expire in 2023, and it has been stated that negotiations between the Catalans and Messi’s representation have already started.
