The beloved Nollywood icon, John Okafor, fondly remembered as Mr. Ibu, has returned to Enugu State in his final journey. His arrival on Tuesday was accompanied by close family members, including his second son.
Mr. Ibu, a cherished figure in Nigerian cinema, passed away at the age of 62 due to cardiac arrest at Evercare Hospital in Lagos. His health struggles, which led to the amputation of one of his legs, stemmed from diseased blood vessels, a condition that posed severe risks to his life.
During his lifetime, Mr. Ibu’s popularity extended beyond Nigeria’s borders. Dominic Nwuzoru, Mr. Ibu’s manager, disclosed that the actor enjoyed immense acclaim in countries like Ghana, South Africa, Kenya, Tanzania, Gambia, Gabon, and Botswana.
