The NCA assures consumers that this classification is part of its commitment to fostering fair competition and safeguarding consumer interests in the telecom sector. The aim is not to hinder MTN’s operations but to ensure a fair playing field for all market players.

To achieve this, the NCA is implementing measures such as asymmetric interconnection rates, tariff parity, and technology neutrality. These steps are designed to boost competition, encourage innovation, and protect consumers by allowing other operators to compete more effectively and invest in enhancing service quality.
Supporting its position, the NCA highlighted a recent report by cable.co.uk, which places Ghana 3rd in Africa and 2nd in West Africa for the most affordable mobile internet data pricing. This ranking was part of the NCA’s ongoing Billing Monitoring exercise.
