The appointment of Rishi Sunak as the future prime minister by the UK government, according to Nigeria’s 79-year-old president Muhammadu Buhari, is a turning point and an example for young people. The first British Asian prime minister in more than 200 years will be Mr. Sunak, 42, who will also be the youngest.
In order to build “the enduring partnership and unbreakable friendship” between the two nations, Mr. Buhari urged for further collaboration between Nigeria and the UK.
In order to improve the health and prosperity of all of our peoples, he also emphasized the need to “expand trade and investment within and between Commonwealth countries.”
Nigeria, the country in Africa with the largest population, became independent from the UK in 1960.
