On Tuesday, Russia’s defense ministry reported that its forces intercepted and destroyed 30 Ukrainian drones overnight in the border regions between the two countries.
“Anti-air defense systems took down 29 drones in the Belgorod region and one in Voronezh,” the ministry announced on Telegram.
This comes after a series of Ukrainian missile strikes on Sunday targeting the Crimean peninsula, which Russia annexed in 2014. These attacks reportedly resulted in the deaths of four people, including two children, and injured 150 others, according to regional officials appointed by Moscow.
Ukraine, enduring a prolonged Russian offensive for over two years, frequently targets Russian territories and annexed regions in response to attacks on its own soil.
