After reaching a new custody arrangement with her longtime boyfriend turned ex-husband Gerard Piqué, Shakira is packing up and moving to Miami with her sons.
According to their joint statement, the former couple “We have a custody arrangement in agreement. Our only goal is to give our kids the best security and safety possible in the hopes that they can live out their lives in a secure and tranquil environment.”
After a 12-hour discussion, the legal team for the Colombian pop sensation apparently reached a settlement with Gerard’s representatives. With their sons, Shakira will relocate from Barcelona to MIA the following year.
The two “reached an agreement that is best for the kids — which is their major priority and after 8 years of living in Barcelona — she and the kids will now relocate back to her longtime home of Miami, where all the maternal family lives,” according to a source close to the former marriage.
ICYMI, Shakira, and Gerard announced their separation in June after 11 years of marriage.
When we last saw them together, they were cheering on their son Milan at a baseball game, and it was clear there was a lot of tension between them because they hardly spoke to one another.
The good news is that it now seems like some of the turbulence has subsided, and the two can proceed for the benefit of their children.
