Nollywood actress Shine Rosman has spoken candidly about the financial reality behind life in the film industry, challenging the common belief that actors automatically live comfortably because of fame.
During a recent appearance on a podcast hosted by Baaj Adebule, the To Kill A Monkey star addressed what she described as a widespread misconception about Nollywood performers and their earnings.
She explained that public perception often paints actors as wealthy simply because they appear on screen or have a visible presence on social media. However, according to her, that image doesn’t always match reality.
Rosman noted that only a small number of entertainers in the industry enjoy consistent financial stability, and in many cases, their income comes from ventures outside of acting rather than film roles alone.
She added that acting, on its own, is not always enough to sustain many professionals in the industry, and a significant number of actors still juggle financial pressures despite their popularity.
In her words, the assumption that Nollywood stars are wealthy is one of the most misunderstood ideas about the industry. She stressed that while some actors are doing well, many others are still working through financial challenges behind the scenes.
Her comments offer a rare glimpse into the less glamorous side of an industry often associated with fame and luxury.
