According to Durban police, rapper Kiernan ‘AKA’ Forbes was killed in a drive-by shooting on Florida Road on Friday night.
Another person believed to be AKA’s bodyguard was also injured, and another unidentified person, believed to be AKA’s close friend, was killed.
The province’s police have yet to officially comment on the murders, but IOL has independently confirmed from well-placed police sources, who cannot be identified because they are not permitted to speak to the media.
AKA was reportedly standing outside the Wish Restaurant when he was gunned down in a drive-by shooting.
Just before 10 p.m., two unknown cars are said to have opened fire.
When an IOL team arrived at the scene on Friday night, police had cordoned off the area.
Customers at a nearby restaurant told IOL that AKA was standing outside Wish when he was gunned down.
Garrith Jamieson, an ALS Paramedics spokesperson, stated that Florida Road has been closed following the shooting incident on Florida Road, in which two people were confirmed dead.
A “famous rapper” was among those killed, according to Jamieson.
The identity of the second person killed is unknown at this time, but he is thought to be AKA’s close friend.
His close friend Da Les expressed his shock on social media.
