The country’s escalating instability, according to Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the Minister of Information and Culture, is a thing of the past since terrorists have been severely targeted and forced to flee.
At a Ministerial Session during the current UNESCO Global Media and Information Literacy Week, the Minister made this statement. He asserts that the military and other security organizations are capable of defending both natives and foreigners in Nigeria.
“I can assure all that our military and other security agencies have continued to do everything possible to secure and protect Nigerians and foreigners living in Nigeria. Terrorists have been hard hit and put on the run. Bandits have been decimated and scattered. Our country is safer today than at any time in recent times, thanks to the sacrifice of our men and women in uniform. Nigerians too should continue to be alert but must not panic. Like I said in a recent statement, as far as insecurity is concerned, the worst is over for Nigeria.”
Mohammed added that some media outlets and social media influencers disseminate untrue material on their platforms just for the purpose of “clickbait.” Speaking of clickbait, this may have contributed to the dissemination of the recent alleged security alert issued by a few foreign embassies in Nigeria.
” If such a security notice was ever issued, one would assume that it was intended to draw Nigerian residents’ attention to the issuing nations. This alert suddenly spread throughout traditional and digital media, causing panic in the political system.
Life was disrupted as a result of the closure of businesses, schools, and travel arrangements. Nobody bothered to investigate the veracity of these alerts. They simply released the content, damned the repercussions, and profited greatly from clickbait. he said
