Leavitt’s political journey began during the 2016 presidential primaries, where she volunteered as a student assistant at a debate hosted on her college campus. This experience solidified her career aspirations.
“As one of the few conservatives on campus, I got the opportunity to assist Fox News during the event. That’s when I realized the path I wanted to take,” she shared.
While at Saint Anselm College, she wrote for the student newspaper, expressing her conservative beliefs and criticizing identity politics. Her column, “Why Donald Trump Just Keeps on Winning and the Media Doesn’t Get It,” reflected her views on resilience and opportunity in America.
Political Setbacks and Growth
After leaving the White House in 2020, Leavitt ran for Congress in New Hampshire during the 2022 midterms but was unsuccessful. She later served as communications director for Congresswoman Elise Stefanik, now Trump’s pick for UN ambassador.
Reflecting on Trump’s readiness for a second term, Leavitt observed, “He’s more seasoned now. He understands the lengths the establishment will go to challenge his leadership.”
