Cloves are aromatic flower buds that come from the clove tree (Syzygium aromaticum). They are widely used as a spice in cooking and have a strong, sweet, and pungent flavor and natural remedy for treating bad breath which is also known as halitosis.

It contains antimicrobial properties and a strong aromatic flavor that can combat the bacteria responsible for foul-smelling breath.

Here are some brief ways on how to use cloves to treat bad breath;

An easy way to utilize cloves for fresh breath is by chewing a few whole cloves slowly, as their natural oils release a pleasant scent and eliminate bacteria responsible for bad breath. Cloves contain compounds like eugenol, which have strong antibacterial properties. This makes them effective in killing harmful bacteria in the mouth, reducing the risk of infections and gum diseases.

You can also boil  a few cloves in a cup of water for 5-10 minutes. Let it cool, strain, and use it as a mouthwash. Gargle with this clove tea to freshen your breath and kill bacteria in the throat and mouth.

One can choose to use the cloves mouthwash method. Prepare a clove oil mouthwash by combining a small amount of clove essential oil with a glass of water. This solution can be used as a mouthwash by swishing it around in your mouth for about 30 seconds to a minute before spitting it out. Be cautious not to swallow it.

You can also find toothpaste containing clove oil or make your own by adding a few drops of clove essential oil to your regular toothpaste. Brush your teeth as usual to benefit from clove’s antibacterial properties.

While using the cloves remedy don’t forget to maintain good oral hygiene. Brush your teeth at least twice a day, floss regularly, and clean your tongue to remove bacteria and food particles that contribute to bad breath.

Cloves can be an additional remedy to your oral hygiene health to achieve the best results.
