UAV Crash in Kaduna State: No Casualties Reported

An unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) from the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) crashed in Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

Initially, locals thought it was a helicopter crash early Monday in Taimi village, near Rigachikun, close to the Nigerian Air Force Air Training Centre in Mando. However, NAF spokesperson Edward Gabkwet clarified that it was a UAV, not a helicopter.

Gabkwet explained, “A NAF UAV experienced a mishap after take-off for a mission near Rumji Village, about 15 km from the base. Since it was an unmanned vehicle, there were no casualties on board or on the ground.”

A preliminary investigation is underway to determine the cause of the crash. Gabkwet assured Nigerians that this incident will not affect ongoing operations.

In response to the crash, a team from the Nigerian Air Force Air Training Centre and 401 Flying School secured the scene for emergency operations and further investigation.
