Nigerian singer Temilade Openiyi, popularly known as Tems, recently addressed rumors circulating about her being pregnant with American rapper Future’s child. The speculation arose after Tems attended Burberry’s Spring/Summer 2024 London Fashion Week show last December. Her choice of outfit, a black dress paired with a purple fluffy coat and matching heels, led some to believe she might be expecting.
During an interview on ‘The Breakfast Club,’ Tems was asked about the wildest rumor she’d heard about herself. With humor and disbelief, she mentioned the pregnancy rumor. “Probably the pregnant thing,” she said, amused by how random and unfounded it was.
The “Me n U” hitmaker found it puzzling that Future was at the center of the rumor, questioning why other artists like Wizkid or Drake weren’t linked instead. Tems said, “The wildest thing I’ve heard about myself is probably the pregnancy. I don’t know where it came from. I was just minding my business, but it was all so crazy. People just take the most controversial things. I was thinking, why am I pregnant for Future? Why Future? Why not Wizkid? Why not Drake? It’s because of his reputation.”
She explained that Future’s well-known reputation as a father of multiple children likely sparked the rumor. Despite the absurdity of the claim, Tems took it in stride and continued to maintain her usual cool demeanor.
In the same interview, Tems also spoke about her musical influences, citing renowned rap artists such as Lil Wayne, Kendrick Lamar, Drake, Ab-Soul, Andre 3000, and J. Cole as some of the talents who have inspired her career.
