On Monday, the Zamfara State House of Assembly took decisive action, suspending eight members and dissolving all House Standing Committees.
According to a statement by House spokesperson Bello Kurya, the suspension request came from House Majority Leader Bello Tsafe and was supported by Deputy Speaker Adamu Nura.
Tsafe alleged that the suspended members attempted to disrupt House proceedings by convening an unauthorized plenary. He urged fellow lawmakers to endorse their indefinite suspension pending a House investigation.
Contributing to the discussion, House members Rilwanu Anka, Hamisu Nassarawa, and Nura Birni stressed the importance of disciplinary measures against the members in question.
Following unanimous agreement, Speaker Bi’yaminu Moriki announced the indefinite suspension of the members.
The suspended individuals include Bashiru Gummi representing Gummi One; Bashiru Bello Sarkin Zango, Bungudu West; Shamsudeen Hassan Basko, Mafara North; Faruku Musa Dosara, Mafara South; Amiru Keta representing Tsafe West; Ibrahim Tukur representing Bakura; and Bashiru Masama representing Bukkuyum North, along with Nasiru Abdullahi from Maru North.
