Tired of his mother’s constant lectures about his unfinished homework, a 10-year-old boy decided to take a bold step. Frustrated and angry, he left his parents’ house and stormed into a local police station in China’s Chongqing Municipality. His unexpected request? To be placed in an orphanage.

In a video captured by CCTV, the young boy can be seen entering the Huixing Police Station in the Yubei district. He expressed his frustration to the officers, explaining that he couldn’t tolerate his mother’s nagging any longer. He believed that life in an orphanage would offer more freedom and enjoyment. “My mom scolded me every day for not doing my homework and left the house. She just nags me to study every day. I’d rather go to an orphanage,” the boy passionately explained to the law enforcement officers.

The police, recognizing the seriousness of the situation, managed to calm the boy down. They persuaded him to provide his parents’ contact information, and upon reaching out to his mother, they confirmed his complaints about the homework scolding. His mother admitted to rebuking him for not completing his assignments, but she was taken aback by his extreme reaction. She had not anticipated that he would be so upset as to seek refuge in an orphanage.

The boy’s father was eventually called to pick him up from the police station. After a series of discussions, the parents tried to explain to their son that he was better off living at home with them rather than in an orphanage. The incident sparked a range of reactions, with some seeing it as a reflection of a generation of children not willing to take responsibility, while others praised the police for their role in mediating and restoring peace within the family.
