In a shocking turn of events, an 18-year-old suspect has confessed to fatally shooting rising rap star Pop Smoke during a home invasion robbery in February 2020.

The suspect, whose name has not been released due to his age, was arrested on May 6th and charged with murder, robbery, and other related offenses. He reportedly confessed to shooting Pop Smoke after breaking into the rapper’s Hollywood Hills home in the early hours of February 19th, 2020.

Pop Smoke, whose real name was Bashar Jackson, was just 20 years old at the time of his death. He had burst onto the music scene with his hit single “Welcome to the Party” and was quickly gaining recognition as one of the most promising young talents in the rap game.

The news of his death sent shockwaves through the music community and left fans reeling. Many had speculated that the shooting was a targeted hit, but it now appears that it was a random act of violence.

The suspect reportedly told police that he and a group of accomplices had targeted Pop Smoke’s home because they believed the rapper had a large amount of cash and jewelry. They allegedly broke in through a balcony and demanded that Pop Smoke hand over his valuables.

When the rapper reportedly refused to comply, the suspect pulled out a gun and shot him multiple times. Pop Smoke was rushed to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center but was pronounced dead shortly after arriving.

The news of the suspect’s confession has brought some closure to Pop Smoke’s family and fans, who have been grappling with his untimely death for more than a year. However, it is also a sobering reminder of the senseless violence that plagues many inner-city communities and the toll it takes on young lives.

The suspect is now in custody and awaiting trial. He faces the possibility of life in prison without parole if convicted of the charges against him.
