A heartbreaking incident has shaken the Nigerian community in the United States, as a 32-year-old doctor, Uzochukwu Davis Igboanugo, lost his life in a tragic accident caused by a drunk driver.

The news of Uzochukwu’s passing was shared by his grieving father, I.K.B. Igboanugo, a respected Igbo businessman, who took to Facebook on Monday, May 13, 2024, to announce the devastating loss.

According to reports, Uzochukwu was driving home from work three weeks ago when the unfortunate incident occurred. A drunk driver, who had fallen asleep at the wheel while speeding on the highway, veered into Uzochukwu’s lane and collided with his car.

In his heartfelt post, the father described his son as a beacon of happiness, intelligence, friendliness, care, kindness, sociability, and love.

Expressing his profound grief, the post stated, “I lost my son 3 weeks ago, I have been crying like a baby. A medical doctor (Ophthalmologist) in America.”

“An accident victim of a drunkard who fell asleep while speeding on the highway, jumped his lane in the opposite direction and hit with speed force on the driver’s side door where my son was as he was driving home after work.”

The father emphasized the indescribable pain of losing a child, urging parents to cherish every moment with their offspring, regardless of their flaws. He also highlighted Uzochukwu’s remarkable achievements, including his dedication to pursuing Ophthalmology, a challenging medical discipline.

Reflecting on the aftermath of Uzochukwu’s untimely death, the father shared the immense mental and emotional turmoil he and his wife have been enduring, urging others never to wish such tragedy upon their worst enemies.

“Uzochukwu my son you are now in God’s bosom and working for Him that was why he took you this early. As your soul will rest in God’s bosom in Jesus name,” he concluded, bidding farewell to his beloved son.
