Aaron Carter did not have a will in place when he passed away, thus the State of California will be in charge of selecting who receives his wealth, according to TMZ.
Carter and his fiancée Melanie have a little child, who was discovered dead at their house last weekend. Prince, an 11-month-old child of Carter and Melanie who has been living with Melanie’s mother since September, was recently removed from the couple’s house by the L.A. County Dept. of Children and Family Services.
Carter’s son might still inherit his father’s assets despite the lack of a will since, according to California law, a child is the first in line to receive an estate if a parent passes away without a will. Carter wasn’t financially secure at the time of his passing, it’s important to note. Aaron “lived hand-to-mouth and would often spend what he made in short order,” a person close to him told TMZ.
Last Saturday, Carter passed away in his Lancaster, California, home. Around 11 a.m., police received a call reporting that a man had drowned in the bathtub. There is no indication of wrongdoing, and the official cause of death is a mystery.
Carter’s home was visited by authorities in September for a welfare check after it appeared the singer was under the influence of drugs during an Instagram Live session. The police had gotten a call about Carter “potentially overdosing on social media,” they had informed TMZ at the time.
Nick, Carter’s older brother, paid a moving homage to his younger sibling on social media.
Carter posted a collection of images to Instagram with the message, “My heart has been broken today.” My affection for my brother has never wavered, despite the difficulties in our connection. I never lost faith that he would one day desire to live a healthy lifestyle and eventually get the care he so sorely needed.
“Sometimes we want to blame someone or something for a loss,” the post said. The real enemy in this situation, however, is actually addiction and mental illness. I’ll miss my brother more than anyone could possibly imagine. I adore you, Chizz, and now you have the chance to experience the kind of calm that is impossible to find on earth. God, please watch over my little brother.
