Simisola Kosoko, widely known as Simi, recently shared insights into the inspiration behind her song ‘Men Are Crazy’, revealing that her husband, Adekunle Gold, sparked the idea.
In a podcast interview with Angela Yee, Simi disclosed that Adekunle Gold proposed the concept for the song, suggesting a playful twist on the perception of men. He suggested the idea of acknowledging men’s quirks while still expressing desire for them.
Simi recalled, “My husband gave me the idea for my song, ‘Men Are Crazy’. He was like, ‘Babe, how about we do a song and you say men are crazy but I still want one in my bed?'”
Initially intrigued by the unexpected suggestion, Simi embraced the concept and crafted the song. Feeling that something was missing after composing two verses, she had an epiphany to collaborate with Tiwa Savage, envisioning a harmonious blend of their musical styles.
“We [our music]don’t generally go in the same direction but I was like, it would be so nice to find that balance and do something that would bring our synergies together,” Simi explained.
She reached out to Tiwa Savage, who added her verse to the song, culminating in a collaborative effort that celebrated both artists’ unique talents. The subsequent music video showcased their camaraderie and creativity, further enhancing the song’s appeal.
