Among the African Union countries that have sent aid and technical assistance to the Turkish-Syrian border are Algeria, Egypt, and Tunisia.

Kenya has pledged to send aid and has asked trained medical personnel to volunteer their services.

Gift of the Givers, Africa’s largest non-governmental humanitarian organization, has also sent teams of rescue workers and equipment to assist the massive international rescue effort.

The 7.8 magnitude earthquake killed more than 11,000 people in southern Turkey and northern Syria, with officials reporting 8,574 deaths in Turkey and 2,660 confirmed dead in Syria.
