Nigerian music sensation Davido isn’t taking a recent April Fool’s joke lightly. He’s gearing up for legal action after a prank spiraled out of control.

The joke, claiming Davido was arrested in Kenya with cocaine on his private jet, spread like wildfire after being aired by Kenya’s K24 TV. Davido, fresh from a successful East African tour, condemned the hoax as “extremely irresponsible.”

Taking to social media, the 31-year-old singer clarified that he has never faced arrest anywhere in the world, be it his home country Nigeria, the United States, or any other nation he’s visited during his illustrious career.

Despite Davido’s swift denial, the fake news gained traction, prompting a wave of concerned calls to the artist. The backlash was so severe that Kenya’s Directorate of Criminal Investigations intervened, labeling the story as “Fake News.”

“I want my fans to know that these reports are entirely false,” Davido reassured on Tuesday, emphasizing that he completed his shows in Uganda and Kenya without incident and returned home safely.

Expressing his frustration, Davido stressed the seriousness of fabricating such international allegations, even in the guise of April Fools’ pranks. He announced his intention to pursue legal action against the media outlets responsible for spreading the misinformation.

As Davido gears up for legal recourse, there has been no response from K24 TV regarding his threat of legal action. While many Kenyans criticized the inappropriate prank, others hope for an amicable resolution to the controversy.
