President Nana Akufo-Addo has candidly recognized the current economic challenges facing the nation. He has acknowledged the concerns voiced by citizens about the hardships they are currently enduring.
Speaking at the New Patriotic Party’s Super Delegates Congress on August 26, President Akufo-Addo expressed his optimism that the party would select a capable new leader to guide the country through these tough times. He admitted, “I won’t deny it’s a tough situation. I’ve said it multiple times. However, I believe that when the time comes, the right individual will emerge to guide us out of these challenges.”

Emphasizing the NPP government’s track record of addressing the issues affecting Ghanaians, President Akufo-Addo expressed his confidence that after the Super Delegates Congress, the party would rally behind the incoming leader. This leader would then steer them through the upcoming 2024 elections. He stated, “We have a strong history of achievements that address the concerns of the people of Ghana. I’m fully confident that we will approach the 2024 elections with a strong position.”
In clarifying his stance, President Akufo-Addo underlined that he has not formally endorsed any candidate in the ongoing elections. He acknowledged that some campaign leaders have approached him, seeking his endorsement for their respective candidates. However, he reiterated that the ultimate decision rests with the party’s delegates.
“There are those who are requesting my endorsement for their candidates. I have not endorsed anyone. The election is not mine to decide; it’s our party’s delegates who hold that responsibility,” he emphasized.
